DTSG Assures Citizens of Good Healthcare Delivery, As Ministry Receives Consumables From FG
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment on quality health care service delivery to all residents of the state, just as the Federal Government had donated some medical consumables to the state government.
This was made known recently in Asaba by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye, in an interaction with newsmen.
Dr Ononye stated the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, had embarked on the upgrading, improving and rehabilitating of primary health care facilities across the state.
“The core song of the ministry is health for all Deltans, hence, the recruitment of more doctors and nurses to handle these state-owned medical facilities in order to deliver quality health service in the state,” Dr Ononye said.
He called on Deltans yet to enroll into the State Contributory Health Scheme, being managed by the Delta State Contributory Health Commission to seize the advantage its services by doing so quickly.
According to him, the scheme, which runs on equity plan and provides coverage for women, 0 to 5 years among others, had enrolled thousands of Deltans, adding that it would ensure the enrolle avoided out of pocket expenditure whenever they access health care service in registered health facilities.
He explained further that government had revamped and upgraded health facilities to contemporary standard which included the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara and the revamped State Ambulance Service, saying that it was a veritable tool in life saving mechanism.
Dr Ononye said his ministry performed very well during the COVID-19 outbreak in the state and was still on top of the situation, even as he said that there had been a decline in number of cases arising from number of negative test results.
He commended the efforts and the swiftness of government and its partners such as World Health Organization, UNICEF and Global Funds in tackling the menace of the current outbreak of Yellow fever in the state through the ongoing mass vaccination programme.
The commissioner buttressed the fact that the harmonious working relationship that existed between the state government and its partners was as a result of the fact that the state never renegaded in meeting up with its counterpart obligation.
He urged residents to continue in maintaining the COVID-19 safety protocols even though the curve had been flattened, adding that the yuletide season was a time of travels and that the surveillance for COVID-19 would be continuously maintained.
