DTHA Lauds Lions Club International for its Humanitarian Services
ASABA: The Delta State House of Assembly has commended the Lions Club International for its humanitarian services to humanity, especially in its contribution towards the elimination of polio in the world.
This commendation was made on Thursday, November 26, in Asaba, by the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor, when the members of the Lions Club International District 404 A1, visited the Assembly.
He stated that the activities of the Lions Club International had been tremendous in the handling of social issues focused on the better living standard of communities where they operate, as they had done so much to touch the lives of the people in Delta.
Hon Ochor pointed out that because they had been doing much for humanity, they will always receive commendation from the society.
“Because you had done so much, and are still doing, people will always thank you for what you had done, and for Deltans, they will never forget to thank you, because you always done so much for them”.
“Any for that efforts you had been putting to touch lives, the Speaker of this honourable House had asked me to tell you that we will continue to partner with you, especially in the health sector, where we have a lot of health challenges. One of your recent notable area where will have to give you great commendation, was your efforts in eliminating Polio from Nigeria. This is commendable, as your cooperation with government agencies, paid off on the project to give Nigeria a clean record on the disease which had made many of our children to become physically challenged.” He added.
Earlier the Governor for the District, Lion Tokunbo Aromolaran, had said that they had come to solicit the partnership of the house in their social advocacy to bring a better living conditions to Nigerians living within their district.
The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of gifts to the District Governor, and the regional Governor by the Assembly.
To welcome the members of the Lions International Club, were Hon Solomon Irakpata, Hon Charles Emetulu, and Hon Shedrack Rapu.
