DESOPADEC Unveils Ambitious 2024 Roadmap for Sustainable Development in Oil Communities

WARRI/Nigeria: In a significant development, Chief Festus Ochonogor, the Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), has laid out a comprehensive roadmap for the year 2024, outlining key strategies aimed at fostering sustainable development within oil-bearing communities.

The unveiling took place today as Chief Ochonogor engaged in a discussion with journalists, marking the conclusion of the first DESOPADEC Board Meeting of the year. The meeting was held at the Commission’s headquarters in Warri, Delta State.

Highlighting the focal points of the 2024 agenda, Chief Ochonogor emphasized the importance of inspecting ongoing projects, completing and commissioning projects in the commission’s mandated areas. He stressed, “Organizing training for members of the board and staff of the commission, which is aimed at increasing competence and productivity of staff.”

Furthermore, the Managing Director revealed that the commission would initiate activities for the upcoming batch of trainees at the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA).

Expanding on the strategic vision, Chief Ochonogor underscored the commitment to enhancing the relationship between the board and staff, focusing on improving staff welfare to add value to their roles.

In a congratulatory note, Chief Ochonogor took the opportunity to extend his felicitations to the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, on his affirmation by the Supreme Court as the Governor of Delta State.

The board meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Chairman of the Board, Chief Bar. John Nani, Executive Director Finance and Administration Chief Kome Okpobor, Executive Director Projects Chief Taleb Tebite, Executive Director Social Services Chief Favour Izuokumor, Executive Director PRS Chief Nicholas Efele, and all commissioners representing the Ethnic groups.

The gathering reflected a collective commitment to steering DESOPADEC towards a year of impactful and sustainable progress.
