DESOPADEC Task Contractors to Be Diligent

Obiaruku: The contractors handling jobs for the Delta State Oil producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC has been ask to be diligent in the various jobs being executed by the commission in the mandate areas.
The charge was giving recently by the Executive Director Social Services Development on the Board of DESOPADEC, Hon Ochor Chris Ochor on an inspection tour of jobs in Ukwuani Local Government Area.
According the Executive Director, the inspection of the ongoing projects in the area afforded him the opportunity to know the level the various jobs had gone and the quality of work done in most of the places.
While pointing out that the commission is to alleviate the sufferings of the people through the provision of projects that is community oriented, he called on the contractors to ensure quality project delivery, that will last, and of benefit to the people, as he noted that most of the jobs done are of very low standard as against the specification of the commission and the Delta state government.
Hon Ochor however said he was satisfied with the level of majority of the jobs, and encouraged the communities where they are sited to protect them.
In a meeting with the contractors, he appealed for their understanding, and ask they be patient for payment for jobs done. As the commission is working with the state government to offset some of the ready certificates of payment, as delays are not deliberate, but because of the present economic condition in the, which is adversely affecting the state, whose main income is from oil.
Also speaking, during the tour, were Sir Dele Omenogor and the LGA PDP Chairman, Engr. Patrick Kaine. Sir Omenogor called on the commission to look into the contractors that are engage to execute their jobs, as often most job done are of substandard. While Engr Kaine called for the fast completion of most of the projects to alleviate the pains of the people of the area.
Earlier, in an interview, the Commissioner representing the Ndokwa nation on the board of DESOPADEC Mr Fidelis Opute, has decried the poor situation of most of the jobs in the area.
