DESOPADEC Pledges Unwavering Support for Youth Development Through DBS Song of the Year

WARRI/Nigeria: In a significant show of commitment to the positive creative development of youths in Delta State, Chief Festus Ochonogor, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), reiterated his dedication during a visit by the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Warri Song Of The Year Committee to the Commission’s Headquarters in Warri on Thursday.
Chief Ochonogor affirmed that DESOPADEC would continue to champion the DBS Song of the Year, emphasizing its role in providing a platform for Delta youths to showcase their creativity while reshaping the negative narrative surrounding the youth in the state. Highlighting DESOPADEC’s commitment to youth development, he underscored the role of the DESOPADEC Skills Academy (DSA), stating that the commission’s focus extends beyond maintaining peace and security in the oil-bearing areas to fostering human capital development among Delta youths.
In a message to the winners, Chief Ochonogor encouraged them to leverage their newfound stardom to work diligently and sustain their growth. He further advised them to reach out to the committee in times of difficulties during their endeavors.
Mrs. Obes Isongoyo, the Chairperson of the DBS Song of the Year Committee, expressed profound gratitude to Chief Ochonogor and DESOPADEC for their unwavering support since the inception of the program.
She acknowledged DESOPADEC as a guiding light and backbone to the initiative, stating, “DESOPADEC has been a light and backbone to the program; we thank you and hope you keep supporting the program.”
On behalf of the winners, including the 2023 DBS Song of the Year, Miss Sonia Grey, gratitude was extended to the Managing Director for his continuous support. Miss Grey appealed to Chief Ochonogor to maintain his support for the program, recognizing its significance in fostering the creative development of Delta State’s youth.
