Deputy Governor of Delta State Receives Overwhelming Support Amidst Bereavement

ASABA/Nigeria: In a poignant moment of unity and solidarity, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support he has received following the passing of his mother-in-law, Ezinne Gold Obinnaya Egege. The deputy governor described the show of love as “overwhelming.”

The deputy governor shared his sentiments during a condolence visit to his residence in Asaba, led by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, along with members of the Ijaw Political Class.

“From the day my mother-in-law passed on, Deltans and well-wishers from within and the diaspora have visited to condole with me and my family,” Sir Monday Onyeme remarked. He extended his gratitude to the Ijaw nation, especially for their visit, and expressed joy in witnessing the collective effort of the Ijaw people and all Deltans to ensure the success of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in delivering the M.O.R.E. Agenda.

In an expression of unity and support, Rt. Hon. Guwor, speaking through Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, conveyed their condolences and assured the deputy governor of their presence at the burial ceremony in Abia State on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Among those accompanying the Speaker were prominent figures, including Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana, Chief J. T. Government, Barr. Lyna Ochulor, and Chief Emman Amgbaduba.

In a separate visit, Rear Admiral Mike Onah, (rtd), OON, mni, a respected political leader, expressed his admiration for Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme’s character, describing him as a man with a “large heart.” Rear Admiral Onah visited the deputy governor’s residence to inquire about the preparations for the burial ceremony.

“It is expected that people will commiserate with him in their large numbers,” Rear Admiral Onah stated. He conveyed his prayers for the deputy governor and his family and assured him of his support during this difficult time.

In response, Sir Onyeme expressed his surprise at Rear Admiral Onah’s official visit and thanked him and other prominent Nigerians for their condolences. He extended an invitation to them to join him at Abia State on Friday, October 6, to pay their last respects as Ezinne Gold Obinnaya Egege is laid to rest.
