Delta State Tackles Hunger, Poverty, and Security Challenges Head-On, Says CPS
ASABA/Nigeria: The Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, has affirmed the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is making bold strides in combating hunger and poverty through substantial investments in human capital development.
Ahon, in a statement responding to criticism of the state government’s recent donation of operational vehicles to the police and other security agencies, defended the move as essential to improving safety in Delta State.
“Governor Oborevwori has empowered over 200,000 Deltans in various categories of human capital development and created numerous employment opportunities within the teaching profession and civil service,” Ahon said. “The provision of operational vehicles to the police and other security agencies is a strategic measure aimed at strengthening security across the state.”
Highlighting the importance of security investments, Ahon added: “Even in developed countries, security challenges persist, which is why their governments allocate significant resources to maintain public safety. Delta State is no different in this regard.”
Ahon also underscored the administration’s ongoing empowerment initiatives, noting the recent support given to 311 Deltans, including individuals with disabilities, to foster self-reliance and job creation. “This government is resolutely committed to improving lives, ensuring security, and promoting sustainable development for the people of Delta State,” he concluded.
