Delta State Prepares for Governor Oborevwori’s One-Year Anniversary with Road Inaugurations
OKPANAM/Nigeria: As part of the preparations to mark the one-year anniversary of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in Delta State, the Commissioner for Works, Rural and Riverine Roads, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, conducted an inspection of the Okpanam/Ibusa and Isheagu/Ewulu Roads, which are slated for inauguration.
The roads, which span 5.3 kilometers and 9.1 kilometers respectively, are approximately 90% completed and connect major towns, promising to boost the socio-economic lives of the area’s residents.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after the inspection, Aniagwu expressed satisfaction with the progress and directed contractors to expedite completion, prioritizing the installation of road markings and other essentials in readiness for the inauguration. He reiterated the governor’s commitment to delivering quality projects to Deltans in line with his MORE Agenda.
Flanked by the functional Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Engr. Juliet Aboloje, and the contractor, Aniagwu stated, “Governor Oborevwori has outlined numerous projects and programs to mark his one year in office. Apart from roads, there are other initiatives, including empowerment programs anchored by the Ministry of Humanitarian and Girl Child, as well as other ministries.
“The governor has instructed us to ensure all roads are top-notch before he commissions them. Even if contractors claim completion, we must verify they meet specifications. We hope the project will be completed in the next few days, allowing us to conduct the final inspection.
“The governor’s approach to every project is thorough. He doesn’t just want to commission projects; he wants to ensure each road provides value to the people of Delta, guaranteeing that the money spent matches the quality of work done.”
