Delta State Police Command Intensifies Security Measures Ahead of Easter Celebrations

ASABA/Nigeria: As the Easter festivities approach, the Delta State Police Command has announced a significant deployment of operatives to ensure a peaceful and crime-free celebration across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, in a press release, SP. Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, confirmed that the Command is fully prepared to maintain law and order, urging Deltans, residents, and non-residents to enjoy the holiday without fear of criminal activities.
In a statement issued on 18th April 2025, CP Olufemi reiterated the Command’s commitment to upholding a zero-tolerance policy toward crime, particularly during the festive period. He directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and commanders of various tactical teams to increase their visibility and vigilance, focusing on preventing and addressing serious crimes, including those typically associated with public celebrations.
The police force will target crimes that are common during the Easter period, such as robbery, traffic-related offenses, and other public disturbances. In addition to routine patrols, specialized teams such as Dragon Patrol, RRS, Raiders Squad, Safe Delta, Safer Highway Patrol, Eagle-Net Special Squad, and Crack Squad will be strategically deployed to high-risk areas, including worship centers and popular resorts.
CP Olufemi emphasized that the safety of the public remains a top priority and reassured residents that the police will be working in close collaboration with other sister agencies to maintain peace throughout the Easter holiday and beyond.
“We remain committed to ensuring that our communities are safe and secure,” CP Olufemi stated. “We urge the public to be vigilant, law-abiding, and assist the police in the fight against criminality.”
