Delta State Police Command Hosts Stakeholders as Part of NPF 2024 Servicom Week Celebrations

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command, as part of the 2024 Servicom Week celebrations, played host to key stakeholders including civil society groups and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on Saturday. The week-long event highlighted the command’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with the community, promoting dialogue and collaboration across various sectors.

Throughout the week, the command organised town hall meetings engaging members of different communities, and held discussions with students at higher institutions within the state. These sessions provided a platform for raising concerns and deliberating on potential solutions to issues affecting local communities. Additionally, the command visited several primary and secondary schools, where they carried out humanitarian services, providing pupils with books and uniforms, and encouraging them to focus on their studies while steering clear of criminal activities.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Comrade Akima Efemena praised the Delta State Police for their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region. He acknowledged the pressures that come with such responsibility and reassured the command of continued support from stakeholders. “The security situation in Delta State has greatly improved, thanks to the strategic deployment of intelligent officers by Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda. We hope the command will maintain this momentum going forward,” Comrade Efemena stated.

Also addressing the gathering, Comrade Ambassador Oliver Eyefia, Chairman of the PCRC Delta State Chapter, expressed satisfaction with the command’s service delivery and lauded the synergy between the police and the community. “The collaboration between the command and the community is exceptional, and we are optimistic that this partnership will continue to flourish,” Eyefia remarked.

The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has continued to demonstrate a proactive approach to community policing, earning commendations for its efforts in fostering peace and security across the state.

SP Edafe Bright, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, reiterated the command’s commitment to strengthening these initiatives for the betterment of the state.
