Delta State IRS Chairman Emphasizes Security and Unity as Key Priorities

ASABA/Nigeria: Hon (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata, the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue Service (IRS), has highlighted the pressing need for enhanced security and unity within the state.

Ighrakpata commended the ongoing MORE agenda led by Governor Sheriff Oborevrwori and called for the collective efforts of all critical stakeholders to realize its objectives.

Speaking in the aftermath of the Election Petitions Tribunal verdict on the 2023 gubernatorial contest, Ighrakpata, who previously represented Uvwie Constituency in the 4th and 7th Delta Assembly, emphasised the importance of peace for the greater good of the state.

He acknowledged the overwhelming celebrations following Governor Oborevrwori’s tribunal victory, underscoring that Delta residents had decisively voiced their choice by massively supporting him at the polls.

The former lawmaker urged against further litigation against the Governor, cautioning that such actions could send the wrong signal in Delta’s otherwise peaceful political landscape, especially when compared to the turmoil in some other states.

Ighrakpata added, “Fortunately, the three other candidates in the election, namely APC’s Ovie Omo-Agege, LP’s Ken Pela, and SDP’s Keneth Gbagi, are all prominent sons of the Urhobo nation. My continuous appeal is for them to unite with the Governor, whom both God and the majority of Delta State residents have chosen to lead the state towards progress.”

“As key stakeholders and representatives of political parties, any constructive contributions from them would be highly valued. They must join hands with the Governor to fulfill the people’s aspirations for sustainable development. The Governor requires a peaceful and secure environment to carry out his duties, devoid of distractions,” Ighrakpata emphasised.
