Governor Sheriff Oborevwori made the announcement following their successful screening during Tuesday’s plenary session, which was presided over by Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.

The confirmation came after the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, moved a motion to that effect. The nominees were presented for the screening exercise by members representing their respective constituencies, including Uvwie, Ika North East, Ughelli North One, Isoko South One, and Aniocha South.

The confirmed appointees are Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, the immediate past Deputy Chief Whip of the State Assembly, who represented Uvwie constituency in the House; Dr. Frank Nwaugo, Executive Director of Operations; Kelly Oghenekevwe, Executive Director of Finance and Administration; Collins Iwebunor, Executive Director of ICT and Corporate Development; and Hon Orezi Esievo as Executive Director of Legal Services.

During the screening, Chairman nominee Solomon Ighrakpata and Orezi Esievo, Executive Director of Legal Services, were given the privilege reserved for non-sitting members to take a bow and leave, while questions were posed to the remaining three nominees. The motion for their confirmation was seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowhowho, and adopted by the House.

Speaker Emomotimi Guwor congratulated the nominees on their appointments and expressed optimism that they would excel in their responsibilities. In particular, he praised Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, describing him as a great man and a wonderful personality, and expressing confidence in his ability to lead the revenue board effectively.

In other proceedings, the House conducted the second and third readings of a bill to regularize the state supplementary appropriation law for the year ending 2022, which had been previously passed by the House.
