Delta State House of Assembly Speaker Leads Delegation to Condole with Governor’s Wife on Mother’s Passing
EVWRENI/Nigeria: In a solemn and heartfelt gesture, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, has led a delegation of state legislators to Evwreni Community in Ughelli North local government area on Sunday, to condole with the Wife of the Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, following the passing of her mother, Madam Agnes Ayetoma Ataga.
Guwor expressed his condolences on behalf of members, acknowledging that while Madam Agnes may have lived a fulfilled life, her loss was deeply felt not only by the immediate family but by the entire state, as her motherly wisdom and counsel would be sorely missed, he noted.
Accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowhowo, Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi, and other Principal Officers and members of the Assembly, were warmly received at the residence of the late Madam Agnes Ayetoma Ataga by Deacon Tobore Oborevwori, flanked by her daughters and other family members in the Uruewve quarters of Evwreni.
The Speaker emphasized the profound bond between the Executive and Legislative branches of government, extending support to the Governor’s family during this trying time. He stressed that the welfare of the first family is intertwined with the well-being of the entire state, represented by the twenty-nine Members of the State Legislature.
Guwor consoled the bereaved family, highlighting the virtuous life led by their mother and the enduring positive impact she had on numerous lives. He reminded Deaconess Oborevwori to remain strong and to offer support to her siblings during this challenging period.
In his spiritual reflection, he asserted that believers do not die but transition to be reunited with the divine glory for eternity. He assured that the State Assembly would be deeply involved in arranging a fitting burial for the late woman, who is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
“Mama lived a fulfilled life. She was a virtuous woman who always cared for everyone around her. This same virtue she passed down to her daughter, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, the wife of the Governor of Delta State,” Speaker Guwor remarked.
“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I pray that God grants Her Excellency, His Excellency, and the entire family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss. May Mama’s gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord,” he added.
Responding on behalf of her mother, the first daughter of Deaconess Oborevwori, Omonigho Oborevwori, expressed deep gratitude to the Speaker and the visiting legislators for their heartfelt condolences.
The gathering offered prayers for the repose of the late Governor Oborevwori’s mother-in-law and the members of the family. In a solemn moment, Speaker Guwor signed the condolence register on behalf of himself and the members of the state legislature, symbolizing their solidarity and support during this challenging time.
