Delta State House of Assembly Commences Two-Day Promotion Exercise for Senior Staff
ASABA/Nigeria: In a move aimed at recognizing and rewarding excellence within its workforce, the Delta State House of Assembly has commenced a two-day promotion exercise for sixty-three (63) senior staff, with the Acting Chairman of the State Assembly Service Commission, Mr. Sunday Ebirere, presided over the proceedings, underscoring the significance of the initiative.
“This promotion interview is in line with the core mandate of the Service Commission,” stated Mr. Ebirere, expressing gratitude towards Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Speaker Rt Hon Dennis Guwor for prioritizing the advancement of Assembly workers.
The atmosphere was reportedly filled with smiles, jubilations, and excitement as approval was granted for the promotion of 63 staff members to the next cadre of service, primarily from Salary Grade Levels 14, 15, and 16.
Addressing the media, Mr. Ebirere, accompanied by the Secretary of the Commission, Barr Austin Uwasike, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to adhering to extant public service rules in elevating deserving officers. He attributed the timely approval and release of funds for the exercise to Governor Oborevwori’s magnanimity and goodwill.
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor in facilitating the release of funds, Mr. Ebirere commended the diligence and commitment of Commission members towards staff welfare, aligning with the state government’s MORE Agenda.
“This exercise is one of the core mandates of the Commission,” affirmed Mr. Ebirere, highlighting its role in recruitment, promotion, training, and discipline within the legislative arm of the Delta State Government. He also underscored the collaboration with the Directorate of Establishment and Pensions of the Delta State Civil Service to ensure a seamless process in accordance with public service regulations.
In interviews, several affected staff members expressed joy and gratitude for the proposed elevation, citing its potential to enhance productivity within the service. They lauded the state leadership for approving the process and expressed appreciation to the Acting Chairman and Commission members for their efforts in ensuring timely promotions, noting that such recognition would motivate them to perform at their best.
