WARRI/Nigeria: In a recent evaluation and monitoring visit by SERVICOM to the DESOPADEC Head Office in Warri, the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has emphasized the imperative for Heads of Department to diligently execute the policies of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration outlined in the MORE Agenda.
“SERVICOM was constituted in Nigeria by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004, and introduced into governance in the state by the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan,” noted Rt. Hon. Solomon during the visit on Thursday, 2nd May 2024, highlighting the historical context of the service delivery initiative.
He underscored the revival of SERVICOM under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and emphasized the administration’s commitment to quality service delivery.
“The Governor promised during his campaign to do MORE… DESOPADEC cannot afford to do the same things the same way; it must be done according to the MORE agenda,” he asserted.
Addressing concerns such as the “School Run” syndrome, where employees leave work early to pick up their children, Hon. Solomon stressed the need for accountability and efficiency.
“We have come to an era of consciousness and serving with accountability,” he stated. In a bid to enhance accountability, Hon. Solomon announced plans to collaborate with SERVICOM Officers to introduce mystery shoppers tasked with monitoring staff attendance and performance.
Echoing these sentiments, Chief Oghenekome Okpobor, Executive Director of Finance and Administration at DESOPADEC, emphasized the organization’s commitment to partnering with SERVICOM to fulfill the MORE Policies.
He urged staff members to approach their duties with diligence and seriousness to better serve the people of the mandate area.
