Delta State Governor Vows to Prioritize Project Completion and Initiate New Developments

OWA-ALERO/Nigeria: In a firm commitment to propel sustainable development within Delta State, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori assured the populace of his administration’s dedication to completing ongoing projects while ushering in new initiatives.

The Governor conveyed this determination while conducting an inspection of the construction of a vital storm drainage channel traversing Owa-Alero and its neighboring environs, stretching through Owa-Alizomor and Owa-Ofie to connect with the Iyi-Amah stream in the precincts of Ika North-East Local Government Area.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr Fred Edafiogho, and Project Consultant Mr John Onwualu, Governor Oborevwori articulated his contentment with both the quality and pace of the ongoing work. He emphasized his administration’s steadfast stance against project abandonment, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy in this regard.

Speaking on the inspection tour, Governor Oborevwori highlighted, “For the past few days, we have been going round to inspect projects. We are taking advantage of the dry season to ascertain the status of projects slated for completion.”

“We are here to see the progress made because mere paperwork doesn’t reveal the true extent of the work. I am exceedingly impressed by what they have accomplished,” he added.

The primary objective of the inspected project, according to the Governor, is to facilitate the efficient discharge of water from Owa-Alero to the Iyi-Ama stream. He conveyed confidence in the assurances provided by the contractors, CCECC, affirming their commitment to completing the task within the next four months.

Governor Oborevwori expressed contentment with the contractor’s performance and drew parallels between the ongoing work in Owa-Alero and the concurrent project in Warri. He hinted at the imminent commencement of the next phase of the Warri storm drainage project, reiterating the necessity of these initiatives in addressing flooding issues in the region.

“The only viable solution to alleviate the floodwater problems here is by constructing this stormwater drainage system, and that’s precisely what we are doing here,” stated the Governor.

He further outlined the progress, stating, “Approximately 75% of the major work has been completed. The remaining 25% is scheduled for completion by April, as committed by the contractor.”

Governor Oborevwori’s pledge reaffirms the government’s commitment to expediting developmental projects while ensuring their successful execution for the enduring benefit of Delta State’s populace.
