Delta State Governor Unveils Ambitious Plan to Transform Warri Township Stadium into a World-Class Sports Facility
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced plans to overhaul the Warri Township Stadium, aiming to elevate it into a premier sports facility on a global scale.

The Governor revealed that the design phase for the new stadium is currently underway and emphasized that it will stand among the best in the country upon completion.
Addressing the visiting National Assembly members, led by Hon. Nicholas Mutu, Governor Oborevwori expressed his gratitude for their solidarity visit and highlighted the progress made by his administration in the past eight months. He assured Deltans that more developments are on the horizon, with legal challenges now resolved.
Governor Oborevwori remarked, “I am very happy receiving you today as you have come to congratulate us not just me for all the victories, most especially the Supreme Court victory, having survived 38 cases. To God alone be all the glory.”
Acknowledging the unity displayed by Deltans during the Supreme Court victory celebrations, the Governor stressed the importance of maintaining solidarity, saying, “We must be one because that is the only way we can advance Delta State.”
Providing insights into ongoing projects, Governor Oborevwori mentioned the initiation and consolidation of various infrastructure projects. Notably, he highlighted a N78 billion contract awarded to Julius Berger for construction projects and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver quality work within 27 months.
The Governor detailed, “We have fully mobilized them with 25 percent of the contract sum, and they are already working. We are also working on revamping the Warri stadium. They are already working on the designs, and once ready, we will unveil a very standard stadium that will be one of the best in this country when completed.”
Concluding his address, Governor Oborevwori appealed for continued support, emphasizing that unity is essential for peace and development in Delta State.
Earlier, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, speaking on behalf of the National Assembly delegation, congratulated the Governor on his Supreme Court victory. He expressed gratitude for divine intervention and assured the Governor of their ongoing prayers for the peace and progress of Delta State.
The visiting National Assembly members included Hon. Julius Pondi, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Hon. Ejiroghene Francis Waive, Hon. Ben Etanebene, Hon. Ngozi Okolie, and Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi.
