Delta State Governor Inspects Riverine Projects, Pledges Commitment to Development Across Communities

WARRI/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the comprehensive development of the state in accordance with the MORE Agenda during an inspection of projects in riverine communities on Friday.

Governor Oborevwori, while inspecting various ongoing projects, emphasized that his government was dedicated to developing both riverine and upland communities equally. Among the projects inspected were a Lecture Hall at Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko, an internal road in Kokodiama, drains in Kuru, Warri South West Local Government Area, and construction works at Model Secondary School, Ogulagha in Burutu Local Government Area.

Accompanied by the immediate past Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, and other top government officials, the Governor engaged with journalists, highlighting the progress and importance of the projects.

Governor Oborevwori disclosed, “We mobilised the contractor with 25 percent and they have done a lot of job, they have done 500m and 200m on the other side and behind me is one box culvert on the other side which is about 1.5km.”

He also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work at the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, where the contractor assured that the project would be completed by the end of the month.

The Governor further emphasized the significance of the riverine communities in the state’s development, stating, “We can’t be doing this in the upland without touching the riverine because they are very key to us.”

Regarding the Model Secondary School in Ogulagha, he remarked, “I am actually impressed because this is one of the best model schools in the riverine area. The project has been on since 2013 and the immediate past administration made an effort to complete it. We are glad that the project has been completed and in the next two weeks, it will be inaugurated.”

Governor Oborevwori urged continued support from the people, assuring them of his administration’s dedication to ensuring development across all communities in Delta State.
