ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has expressed profound dismay over the vandalisation of the NNPCL/Chevron oil facility at the Dibi-Abiteye Flow Station in Warri North Local Government Area, an incident that occurred on Saturday, 23rd November 2024.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, described the act as a brazen instance of economic sabotage. He assured the public that the government, in collaboration with security agencies and Tantita Security Services, would ensure the culprits are identified and held accountable.

Dr Emu reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the protection of oil and gas assets within the state, highlighting the administration’s dedication to fostering a secure environment for operators. “The government reassures Chevron Nigeria Limited and other oil operating companies of our continuous support and commitment to their successful operations in Delta State,” he stated.

He further appealed to host communities for their cooperation in identifying those responsible for the attack, stressing the importance of collective effort in maintaining stability. “We also solicit the support of host communities in identifying and clamping down on the offenders,” Dr Emu added.

The statement concluded with a stern warning to individuals or groups intent on undermining the state’s oil production efforts. “The State Government shall not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons/criminals who are out to sabotage the government’s resolve to sustain the current tempo of oil exploration in the state,” Dr Emu warned.

This latest development underscores the critical need for heightened vigilance and cooperation between stakeholders to safeguard vital economic infrastructure in Delta State
