Delta State Deputy Governor Challenges Youths to Build a Better Future through Education

ASABA/Nigeria:  Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has urged young people to embrace education as a powerful platform. He emphasized the importance of taking studies seriously, regardless of the challenges they may face while pursuing their education.

Addressing members of the National Association of Delta State Students Union (NADESSTU) during a congratulatory visit to his office at the Government House in Asaba, Deputy Governor Onyeme stressed that education is the key to escaping poverty and backwardness in the country and the state.

“We know that for us to escape from poverty and all other forms of backwardness in this country and particularly in our state, we do not have any other choice than to be educated,” he asserted.

He highlighted the significance of education in broadening one’s understanding and appreciation of various aspects of life. “It is only an educated person that can appreciate certain things. For instance, if you are not educated, there are a lot of things that you will never understand and you will never appreciate; with proper education, enlightenment, all forms of superstitious belief will be things of the past,” he remarked.

The deputy governor assured NADESSTU members that the state government, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, would continue to prioritize education. He expressed his happiness at welcoming the students and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting students in higher learning institutions.

“We will do everything to encourage students that are in institutions of higher learning to succeed; I want everyone to know that going to school is the only way forward for our future,” he asserted optimistically.

Onyeme acknowledged the difficulties some students may encounter, but he assured them that with education, they will find a way to overcome obstacles. He also urged students to avoid cultism and other negative social behaviors that could jeopardize their future.

Comrade Monday Whiska, the National President of NADESSTU, praised Deputy Governor Onyeme for his philanthropic efforts, particularly the Education Fund that has benefited numerous Deltans in their pursuit of education. Whiska highlighted how Onyeme’s support had inspired many students to rally behind the PDP during elections.

The courtesy visit was attended by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Christopher Osakwe, and others.

As the youth of Delta State are encouraged to invest in education, it is hoped that this initiative will pave the way for a more prosperous and enlightened future for the state and its citizens.
