Delta State Assembly Speaker Orders Urgent Repair of Dysfunctional Office Air Conditioners

ASABA/Nigeria: In a bid to enhance the working conditions for the staff of the Delta State House of Assembly, Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has issued a directive for the immediate repair of malfunctioning air conditioners in the newly constructed office building on the premises of the State Assembly in Asaba.

During a comprehensive tour of all offices within the complex, Speaker Guwor expressed his deep concern over the persisting issues with the air conditioning system in the two-story administrative building, emphasizing that it failed to serve its intended purpose.

Accompanied by prominent figures such as Majority Leader Emeka Nwaobi and Acting Clerk Oto Aghoghopia, among others, Speaker Guwor instructed that the installation company responsible for the air conditioners be contacted promptly to rectify the deficiencies and ensure the systems become fully operational.

Speaker Guwor underscored his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Assembly’s employees, asserting that a conducive office environment could not be achieved without essential facilities in proper working order.

In a call to action directed at the Assembly’s management and staff, Speaker Guwor urged them to maximize their productivity. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the workers and pledged to address these issues, starting with the most pressing concerns as soon as resources and time allow.

Guwor’s decision to inspect the facilities on-site followed his initial meeting with the Assembly’s management and staff. During this tour, he gained firsthand knowledge of the state of various offices and promised to follow up on the identified issues.

He stated, “I have gone round and seen things for myself. Those that require immediate attention would be handled as quickly as possible. There will be a follow up on those that require long term planning. Gradually and with the support of every stakeholder, including the staff of the Assembly, all the issues would be addressed.”

Acknowledging the dedication of Assembly staff to legislative business and oversight activities, Speaker Guwor pledged to continue supporting them in creating a conducive working environment. He called for patience, cooperation, and understanding, expressing his commitment to building upon the legacies of his predecessor, His Excellency Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who elevated the standards of the Assembly during his tenure as Presiding Officer of the House
