This critical health intervention is set to run from Saturday, 7th December, to Thursday, 12th December 2024.
During this period, an integrated medical outreach will provide essential health services across the state to both young and old, with a focus on improving maternal and child health. The outlined services include:
- Routine immunisations for children under the age of five.
- Tetanus Toxoid-Diphtheria (TD) vaccinations for expectant mothers.
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations for girls aged 9 to 14 years.
- Vitamin A supplementation and deworming for children under five.
- Antenatal care (ANC) for pregnant women.
- Family planning services for reproductive health.
- Distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets to women and children.
- Free screenings for malaria, HIV/AIDS, and other health interventions.
The state government has called on schools, religious organisations, market associations, and the public to actively participate in the programme. Citizens are encouraged to mobilise pupils, students, and members of their communities to access these life-saving health services.
Theresa Adiabua Oliko, the Director of Public Communication and Functioning Permanent Secretary, emphasised the importance of collective efforts to ensure the success of this vital health initiative, aimed at safeguarding the well-being of Delta’s citizens.
This week-long event underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a healthier society through targeted interventions and collaborative efforts.
