Delta Special Projects Team Leader Urges Contractors to Uphold Quality Standards

ASABA/Nigeria: The Leader of the Delta State Special Project Inspection Team, Architect Kester Ifeadi, has called on contractors handling state government projects to adhere strictly to the quality delivery standards set by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

Arch. Ifeadi issued the directive during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in Asaba and Okpanam, including Tony Ebenuwa Street, Biggle Okolo Crescent, Ikukaiwe Street/Isibor Street/Tony Nzogwu Street/Mike Ogwah Street, and Frank D’Don Street/Odiakpo Street.

Accompanied by the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze; Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Dr. Goodnews Agbi; and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, Ifeadi emphasized the administration’s zero tolerance for substandard work.

“Contractors must align with the quality delivery principles of the Oborevwori administration,” he stated. “It will no longer be business as usual. While most projects inspected were commendable, we also observed challenges and lapses in a few areas. This inspection aims to assess these issues and recommend improvements.”

He further clarified that payment delays were not a factor affecting project progress, noting that contractors confirmed they were not owed by the government. Instead, he attributed challenges to the rising cost of materials driven by current economic conditions.

“The issue is not about payment but the skyrocketing prices of goods and services in the country,” he said. “The government remains committed to accountability, verifying and assessing every expenditure to ensure value for money. That is why we are here today—to identify and address challenges and guarantee that projects meet the highest standards.”

Ifeadi commended the overall quality of the projects but acknowledged that some areas required improvement. He assured that the technical team was dedicated to addressing these issues promptly.

The inspection team, he noted, was a continuation of Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to ensuring thorough oversight of projects across the state. “The Governor has been personally inspecting projects, gaining firsthand information to guide decisions and ensure the delivery of high-quality infrastructure,” Ifeadi added.

He stressed that the inspection initiative was part of the administration’s broader strategy to maintain high standards in project execution and enhance development across Delta State.
