Delta Speaker Urges State Contingent to Strive for Gold at National Youth Games

ASABA/Nigeria: As the 8th National Youth Games kick off in Asaba, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has charged the Delta State contingent to aim for gold in the competition.

Speaking at the Steve Keshi Stadium during the opening ceremony, Guwor reminded the athletes that they bear the hopes and dreams of Delta State. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker urged the team to embody the true spirit of Delta.

“Dear Delta State contingent, as you compete in the 8th National Youth Games, remember that you carry the hopes and aspirations of our state on your shoulders. Show the nation the true Delta spirit,” Guwor said.

He emphasized that resilience, determination, and excellence are key to success, encouraging the athletes to give their best and make Delta proud.

Addressing participants from other states, Guwor extended a warm welcome, saying, “To our brothers and sisters from other states, we welcome you to Delta with open arms. May the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship guide you throughout the games. Let us all win together in unity and camaraderie.”

The Speaker also welcomed visitors to Delta State, expressing the state’s pride in hosting the prestigious event. He encouraged them to enjoy the games, explore the rich culture of Delta, and leave with lasting memories and friendships.

“We are honored to host the 8th National Youth Games and showcase our hospitality, culture, and beauty. You are now a part of the Delta family!” Guwor concluded.
