Delta Speaker Guwor Committed to Effective Legislation, Says CPS
ASABA/Nigeria: The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, has reaffirmed the commitment of the 8th Assembly under Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor to promoting effective legislation and good governance in Delta State.
Nwaeke made the remark while reacting to the “Most Outstanding Steward in Legislative Business” award conferred on the Speaker by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council. He described the award as a well-deserved recognition of Guwor’s outstanding legislative accomplishments and impressive track record since the inauguration of the 8th Assembly on June 13, 2023.
He noted that Guwor has remained focused on consolidating the gains of the previous Assembly while introducing new initiatives to drive results-oriented legislation and foster a harmonious working relationship among stakeholders in the legislature. According to him, the Speaker has ensured that the Assembly’s core functions—lawmaking, representation, and oversight—remain paramount by providing the necessary direction and leadership.
Acknowledging the NUJ’s role in promoting excellence in governance, Nwaeke commended the Delta State Council of the union for honoring Guwor with the prestigious award, noting that it signifies the union’s confidence in the Speaker’s leadership. He assured that the Delta Assembly, under Guwor’s leadership, remains dedicated to serving the people of the state.
On behalf of other aides, Nwaeke congratulated the Speaker on the achievement, emphasizing that the award recognizes his dedication not only as the Presiding Officer of the Delta State House of Assembly but also as a National Officer of the Conference of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria.
“The NUJ’s decision to bestow this honor on Mr. Speaker is a vote of confidence in his ability to drive positive change, particularly in Delta State. His leadership and legislative performance have been remarkable, and we deeply appreciate the union’s recognition of his efforts,” Nwaeke stated.
