Delta Police Command Records Arrests of Serial Criminals Across the State

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has announced significant breakthroughs in tackling crime, with the arrest of multiple suspects involved in various criminal activities, ranging from car snatching and armed robbery to cultism and child trafficking.
This was disclosed by SP Edafe Bright, the Police Public Relations Officer, during a press briefing in Asaba on January 16, 2025.
In one case, two suspected serial car snatchers, Junior Emmanuel (33) and Julius Samuel (28), were apprehended on January 2, 2025. The duo, who confessed to killing a cab driver at Osubi on December 15, 2024, had attempted to sell a stolen vehicle at a scrap yard in Warri. Their operation involved luring victims into their cab and murdering them en route. Two vehicles linked to the crimes have been recovered.
In another operation, Ekpan Police arrested two suspected armed robbers, Osio Emmanuel Nyerohwo (28) and Sabiu Adamu (26), on January 3, 2025. The suspects, known for using tricycles to rob unsuspecting passengers at night, were caught with two locally made guns, 13 live cartridges, nine mobile phones, and their operational tricycle.
The police also uncovered a case of self-kidnapping and fraud involving a woman who deceived her Facebook acquaintance into paying ransom money. Faith Oghenejabor, who also posed as Smart Amanda, allegedly faked her kidnapping, extorted ₦1.95 million, and was arrested following a thorough investigation.
Cult-related activities were another focus of the police, with the arrest of Prosper Akeni (32), identified as a top-ranking member of the Eiye confraternity, in Orhuwhorun town. The operation led to the recovery of multiple firearms, including Beretta pistols, locally made guns, and ammunition, used in cult operations.
Further arrests were made in connection to child trafficking. A suspect, Blessing Kojo Oghenefejiri (25), was detained after allegedly deceiving a family into believing their six-week-old child had died. Investigations revealed she had given the child away to another couple under false pretenses.
The police also detained a barber, Volte Bale (26), accused of defiling a 12-year-old boy. Preliminary findings suggest the abuse spanned two years, with the suspect exposing the victim to explicit content.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, commended the efforts of the divisions involved in these operations. He assured residents that the police remain committed to combating crime and ensuring safety across the state.
Investigations into all cases are ongoing, with the suspects expected to face prosecution upon conclusion.
