Delta Police Command Celebrates Promotion of 100 Officers
ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command was filled with joy on Tuesday, January 2, 2025, as 100 officers were decorated with their new ranks during a ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess in Asaba.
The event was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, who conducted the decorations on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Among the newly promoted officers were one Deputy Commissioner of Police, two Assistant Commissioners of Police, and several officers across other ranks. Those elevated include DCP Ado Ibrahim, formerly the Assistant Commissioner of the State Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Sadiq M. Mana, previously the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, and ACP Maiyaki Joyce Mathew, formerly the DPO of Kwale Division.
The event also saw the promotion of other senior officers, such as CSP Obekpa Michael, the Admin Officer in the Department of Operations; CSP Omo-Uwuigbe Nosakhare, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad; and CSP Mohammed Balarabe Ibrahim, Commander of the Crack Squad. Several officers were also elevated to the ranks of Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police.
CP Olufemi Abaniwonda congratulated the officers, emphasizing that their promotions were rewards for diligence and dedication. He reminded them that the reward for hard work is more work and urged them to maintain high standards in their duties. “You must not disappoint the Inspector General of Police, the Command, or the public,” he stated, encouraging the newly decorated officers to continue serving with honor and commitment.
The event was witnessed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Administration, DCP Charles Dike, and other members of the Command’s management team. Families, friends, and well-wishers of the promoted officers also joined in the celebration, adding to the joyful atmosphere of the occasion.
SP Edafe Bright, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, assured the public that the promotions would further enhance the Command’s operational efficiency and commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
