Delta PDP Releases Timetable for Local Government Elections
ASABA/Nigeria: In a bid to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process, the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled its provisional timetable for the forthcoming Local Government elections in the state.
Speaking to journalists at the party’s secretariat in Asaba on Wednesday, May 8, 2023, the Delta state chairman of the PDP, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, outlined the schedule of events. The process is set to kick off from Friday, May 10, 2024, with the commencement of the sales of forms to aspirants.
Key dates in the timetable include:
Form Sales: Friday, May 10 – Wednesday, May 15, 2024
Form Submission: Thursday, May 16 – Saturday, May 18, 2024
Aspirants Screening: Saturday, May 19 – Monday, May 20, 2024
Screening Appeals: Tuesday, May 21, 2024
Ward Congresses: Friday, May 24, 2024
Councillorship Primaries: Friday, May 24, 2024
Councillorship Appeals: Saturday, May 25, 2024
Chairmanship Primaries: Saturday, May 25, 2024
Run-off Primaries: Sunday, May 26, 2024
Primaries Appeals: Sunday, May 26, 2024
Esiso emphasized the party’s commitment to providing a level playing field for all aspirants, ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and credible process. He called on all intending aspirants and their supporters to maintain discipline, law and order, and decorum throughout the process.
The Local Government elections are scheduled to hold on July 13, 2024.
