Delta North APC Condemns Alleged Power Grab, Affirms Support for Barr Obigbor as Acting Chairman

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta North chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly denounced an alleged attempt by Chief Paulinus Akpeki and his associates to seize control of the party’s leadership in the state. In a press statement issued today, the chapter described the actions as a direct threat to the unity and stability of the party.

The statement, signed by Senator Peter Nwoboshi, the leader of Delta North APC, reaffirmed their unreserved support for Barr Francis Obigbor as the legitimate Acting Chairman of APC in Delta State. Barr Obigbor, who serves as the Deputy State Chairman, was hailed as the rightful successor to the position in line with the party’s constitution.

“We unequivocally and unanimously endorse the emergence of Barr Francis Obigbor as the Acting Chairman of APC Delta State, in strict accordance with the APC constitution,” the statement read. It emphasized that Obigbor’s appointment as Acting Chairman was a legal and rightful transition, with the Delta North Senatorial District retaining its position in the party leadership following the last congress.

The statement further condemned any attempts by the Delta Central Senatorial District to unseat Obigbor, arguing that such actions violated the APC’s constitution and were an affront to the democratic process. “We will not stand idly by while the Delta Central Senatorial District attempts to rob the Delta North Senatorial District of the position to which it was duly elected,” the statement warned.

The Delta North APC also issued a stern warning to those behind the alleged power grab, urging them to cease their actions and respect the party’s constitution.

“We will not allow any individual or group to flout the constitution and impose their will on the party,” Senator Nwoboshi concluded.

The statement highlights growing tensions within the APC in Delta State, as internal conflicts over leadership positions continue to unfold. As the political landscape in the region remains volatile, the Delta North chapter has made it clear that it will defend its position and uphold the rule of law within the party.
