Delta Lawmaker Preaches Peace and Oneness to Warring Communities

Obiaruku: Troubled by the continued reported cases of communal disputes between communities of his Constituency, the lawmaker Hon. Alphonsus Ojorepresenting Ukwuani Constituency in the Delta state House of Assembly, Hon (Dr) Alphonsus Ojo has tasked the warring communities of Ezhiokpor and Amai, both of in Ukwuani Constituency to sheath their sword in the interest of peace and harmony and embrace themselves as brothers and sisters they are known for.

Hon Ojo gave the advise recently, when he visited Ezhiokpor community to plead with them on the compelling need at which peace must prevail.

The lawmaker noted that crisis is ailing to development, as no meaning development can strive or take place in an atmosphere of rancour and acrimony, appealing to both communities to lay down their arms and live in peace.

He commended the both communities for not yet taken laws into their hands, even as he promise to liaise  with appropriate government authorities to ensure that more security personnel and apparatus are deployed to both communities to forestall any break down of law and order in the affected communities which could be disastrous.

On possible ways of bringing the lingering crisis to an abrupt end, the lawmaker promised to take the issue forward with available facts and documents at his disposal, assuring the communities that the outcome of his action will be favourable to them.

He sorts for their maximum cooperation as he wades into the issue, expressing optimism of possible light at the end of the tunnel.

Responding on behalf of the Ezhiokpor community, the spokesperson of the Okpala-uku in council commended the lawmaker on his fact finding mission to the community.

He gave assurance that Ezhiokpor people will cooperate remain peaceful and law abiding while plans are ongoing by the government to seek lasting solution to the dispute.

It could be recalled that the state police command recently brought the two communities to a roundtable discussion in which at the end, they signed an agreement to remain peaceful.
