Delta Land Commissioner Appeals For Upwards Funding Of Her Ministry
ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Barr.(Mrs) Kate Onianwa, has appealed for upward review of the capital and overhead limit in the 2022 proposed budget for her ministry.
The commissioner made this appeal when she led the management staff and some other officials of her ministry to defend the ministry’s proposed budget for the 2022 financial year, held at the Felix Ibru Secretariat in Asaba, the state capital.
Barr.Onianwa said that the review of the 2021 budget was a veritable indicator for a realistic budget proposal for the year 2022, to assist in achieving the core mandate of the ministry and also to accommodate expenditures of land acquisitions which were hinged on the realisation of the Stronger Delta agenda of the state government.
”I wish to sincerely request for the introduction of a new head, sub-head and an upward review in the existing vote. This is predicated on the ministry’s additional functions in the new revenue charts,” she stated.
The commissioner also stated that the upward review of some particular votes in the 2022 proposed budget was to capture payment of outstanding commitments and to make provisions for future activities in the 2022 fiscal year.
She said that the office of the Survey General and that of the Urban and Regional Planning Board needed an upward review in the 2022 proposed budget to achieve their mandates.
Barr.Onianwa assured the budget planning team, led by the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Dr Barry Gbe, that with the granting of her request, there would be a high turnover in the revenue generation, smooth running and effective administration in the performance of the ministry.
In his response, Dr Gbe thanked the Lands Commissioner for the prudent use of available funds and assured her of his support, towards the collective actualisation of the Stronger Delta vision.
