Delta Inaugurates 7-Man State Joint Task Force On Covid-19 Vaccination

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Primary Health Development Agency (DSPHCDA) has inaugurated a seven (7) man State Joint Task Force on COVID-19 Vaccination.

The Chairman DSPHCDA, Dr Isioma Okobah who inaugurated the Task Force explained that the Task Force was an initiative of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency set up to address fraudulent activities such as COVID-19 Vaccination card racketeering and vaccine diversion.

Dr. Okobah revealed that various reports abound in the state of illegal practices by health workers during the COVID-19 Vaccination, hence the state decided to set up the State Joint Task Force to forestall and curtail the issues.

She said Members of the Task Force was expected to set up and support formation of Local Government Joint Task Force in the 25 local government areas (LGAs) of the state, conduct random spot checks to health facilities on regular basis, investigate reported cases at the LGA levels as well as oversee the upscaling of the Vaccination process to involve the private health care facilities.

She noted that the state government was giving greater priority to the health sector through provision of quality health care services, upgrading and renovation of health facilities and the training and retraining of health care workers.

The Agency Chairman solicited the support and co-operation of the Joint Task Force adding that it has a very critical role to play in bridging public trust in the Vaccination process.

Responding on behalf of the task force, the Permanent Secretary DSPHCDA Dr Jude Winful-Orieke assured that the task force will perform their duties diligently and ensure that culprits will be brought to book.

The Joint Task Force has members drawn from DSPHCDA, officers of Department of State Security (DSS), National Agency for Food Drug Administration and control (NAFDAC), Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC) World Health Organization, (WHO) and United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF).
