Delta IDP Camp Takes In 402 Floods Ravaged Victims from Neighbouring States

ASABA/Nigeria: A total of 402 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), made up of182 children, 124 females and 96 males, are currently housed at Omorka Primary School, Illah, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Commandant of the camp, Mrs Ufuoma Obiemenem, disclosed this when a combined team of officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and those of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) inspected some flood ravaged areas and the IDP camp.

She explained that majority of the IDPs were non- Deltans, explaining that the reason was because of the boundary location of Illah with Kogi, Anambra and Edo States.

The camp commandant said that arrangements were in top gear to get two extra classrooms to make the victims more comfortable.

Two tanks were on ground to serve the water needs of the people while the clinic was in working order when the team visited.

The team also visited water ravaged areas in Ugbolu and Illah water side.

Other officials that were part of the team came from the Federal and State ministries of Health, Environment, Basic and Secondary, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Information.
