Delta Governor Urges Prayer for Peace Amidst Trying Times
OBIARUKU/Nigeria: Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, has called upon Nigerians to fervently pray for the enduring peace, unity, progress, and prosperity of both the state and the nation, particularly during these challenging times.
Governor Oborevwori made this plea during the commemoration of the 25th Priestly Ordination Anniversary and Book Presentation of Very Rev Fr. Dr. Christopher Ekabo at Christ the King Catholic Church, Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area.
Fr. Ekabo, who serves as the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, was ordained as a Catholic priest in September 1998.
Extending his felicitations during the thanksgiving ceremony, Governor Oborevwori urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any activities that could jeopardize peace and security in the state.
Congratulating Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Christopher Ekabo on his silver jubilee anniversary in priesthood, the Governor remarked, “you have continued to enjoy the help of God by virtue of undeniable impact and exploits recorded thus far in your ministry.”
He further expressed his wish for an increase in divine grace and anointing upon Fr. Ekabo’s life, encouraging him to persevere in his priestly duties.
Addressing the congregation, Governor Oborevwori implored them to intercede through prayer for the sustenance of peace, unity, progress, and prosperity in Delta State and Nigeria, particularly amidst current challenges.
The Governor acknowledged and appreciated the goodwill and contributions of the people towards the state’s development, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding lives and property, aligning with the government’s objectives outlined in the MORE Agenda.
As part of the event, Governor Oborevwori unveiled a book authored by Fr. Ekabo titled, “A Presidential Option for the Nigerian Marginalised: A Theological Approach.”
During the homily, Very Rev Fr. Dr. Raphael Ogigbah urged Christians to lead lives obedient to God, embodying the essence of Christ’s teachings, as God desires fruitfulness in all endeavors for humanity.
