ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has intensified efforts to complete road construction, rehabilitation, and drainage projects across the Capital Territory, leveraging the dry season to expedite progress.

Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, made this known on Monday during an inspection tour of several ongoing projects in Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Areas.

Chief Ukah expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and commended contractors for adhering to project timelines. He reiterated that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to using the dry season to deliver critical infrastructure in the Capital Territory.

He disclosed that many of the road projects were initiated in 2023 and are expected to be completed within the governor’s first term.

The inspection began with the 1.468-kilometer flood control project at Ogbeilo/Ugbomanta Street, which includes a discharge drain connecting Ogbogonogo Market to Otuogwu Bay.

Other projects reviewed include the 1.069-kilometer road network within the Delta Development and Property Authority (DDPA) Housing Estate in Asaba, covering Anyafulu Chinedum Street, Redeemer Street, Odilison E.C. Jnr. Street, and spurs leading to Ralph Uwachie Road, Ngozi Odiake Avenue, and Israel D. Odilison Close.

Ukah also inspected the 0.840-kilometer Oliklli Layout project, comprising Emeka Okolo Street, Bakasi Street, Mike Arinze Street, and Amechi Efagwuani Street, located off Ibusa Road.

Additionally, the inspection covered the 0.750-kilometer Bright Ndubuisi Street in Asaba, the 2.250-kilometer Ajidua Road in Okpanam, and the 0.370-kilometer Iella Minola Street.

Chief Ukah commended the progress of the projects and assured residents that some of them would soon be inaugurated.

“Through technical inspections, we have identified some gaps and funding challenges, which are being addressed. I commend the contractors for their efforts and urge them to prioritize timely completion of the projects,” Ukah said.
