AGBARHO/Nigeria: An appeal has gone to Delta State Government (DTSG) to prevail on some members of the community to embrace peace and avoid things that could threaten the existing peace in the Agbarho kingdom by respecting the authority of the traditional ruler of the kingdom.
The Eghene of Agbarho kingdom, Chief Augustine Obenobe made the call in Asaba while speaking with newsmen.
He said that the Osuivie of Agbarho kingdom, HRM Ajuwe Samson Owherijesu Ogugu was a peace-loving individual that believed in the unity and progress of the kingdom and recalled that the monarch was at a time in the history of the kingdom chased away from the throne by some persons that never meant well for the kingdom who acted on the instructions from one retired General now deceased.
Chief Obenobe stated that an illegal monarch was installed by the late General and his cohorts, it was however the efforts of the State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa that played a critical role towards restoring peace and order in the kingdom as he brought the ousted king back to the throne.
According to Chief Obenobe, a certain Chief in Agbarho kingdom organised a conference and installed what he described as an illegal President General and executive member without the consent of the traditional ruler and all members of the kingdom.
He said that in line with the constitutional guidelines of the kingdom, HRM was supposed to convene an enlarged meeting of every member of the kingdom and deliberate on the issue of electing new President-General and his Executives.
Chief Obenobe, however, disclosed that HRM Ajuwe Samson Owherijesu, the Osuivie of Agbarho kingdom had during a meeting held on February 12, 2023, in collaboration with critical stakeholders in the kingdom selected a five-man caretaker committee to oversee the administration of the kingdom.
He listed the members of the committee to include Chief Augustine Obenobe as Acting President-General, Pastor Samuel Oghenebrume (Vice President,); Chief Harrison Edejor (Secretary-General); Chief Harrison Abuge (Treasurer); and Chief Joshua Akorefe (PRO).
Chief Obenobe stated further that the Agbarho monarch had implored the State Government and the general public not to have any dealings with the dethroned PG and his executives but recognise the caretaker committee pending when the kingdom would successfully register the President General with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development.
