Delta Capital Territory Chief Orders Immediate Halt to Unauthorized Removal of Vehicle Plate Numbers

ASABA/Nigeria: The Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Chief Patrick Ukah, has ordered an immediate halt to the removal of vehicle plate numbers from cars parked along the roads in the city. This directive follows complaints from motorists, particularly in Asaba, who reported that task force members were removing plate numbers and demanding payment for their return.

Chief Ukah swiftly reaffirmed his earlier directive banning this practice, warning that anyone caught engaging in it would be apprehended and prosecuted. “The removal of vehicle plate numbers by any task force or group is unauthorized and illegal. Those responsible will face the full weight of the law,” Ukah stated.

The Director General explained that the Agency is currently working on mapping out designated car parks and specific areas where vehicles can be parked along roads within the territory. This initiative is part of broader efforts to improve traffic management and urban planning in the capital territory.

Ukah also expressed concern that some individuals might be impersonating members of the Agency’s task force to carry out these unlawful acts. He urged motorists to be cautious and to report any suspicious activities. “These individuals do not have the backing of the DSCTDA. Motorists should remain vigilant and report any incidents to the appropriate authorities,” he advised.

Chief Ukah’s directive underscores the Agency’s commitment to ensuring a fair and orderly system for parking in the capital territory while protecting residents from exploitation.
