Delta Assembly to Strengthen Collaboration, Drive Development in 2025
ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly is set to intensify its collaborative efforts with the Executive arm of government to sustain the state’s development agenda in 2025.
Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, made this known in a statement ahead of the resumption of plenary following the Christmas and New Year celebrations. He assured that the 8th Assembly, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, will witness enhanced legislative productivity in the new year.
Mr. Nwaeke highlighted significant achievements of the Assembly in 2024, crediting Rt. Hon. Guwor’s pragmatic leadership for the progress made in passing impactful legislation for the benefit of Delta State residents. He emphasized that the Speaker and his team remain committed to ensuring that the aspirations of the people are met through good governance.
“Rt. Hon. Guwor, who also serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, has earned widespread recognition for his legislative expertise and leadership skills. These attributes have made the 8th Assembly vibrant, focused, and highly regarded among state legislatures in the country,” Nwaeke said.
He added that the Speaker is dedicated to strengthening the legislative institution in Delta State and ensuring that the House remains productive in fulfilling its constitutional mandate.
Looking ahead to 2025, Nwaeke expressed optimism about the Assembly’s prospects, noting that the House has already passed a realistic and implementable budget for the fiscal year. The ₦979.2 billion budget, which has been signed into law by Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is expected to serve as a vital tool for addressing the state’s challenges and fostering economic growth.
“The Speaker remains steadfast in supporting the Governor to achieve the MORE agenda,” Nwaeke stated, adding that the Assembly will prioritize bills and motions that directly benefit the people of Delta State upon resumption of plenary.
With a renewed focus on legislative productivity, the Delta State House of Assembly is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing the state’s development agenda in the year ahead.
