Delta Assembly Speaker Assures Staff of Improved Welfare in 2025

ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has assured management and staff of the Assembly of enhanced welfare packages in 2025. He made this promise during an end-of-year event held at the Assembly Complex in Asaba, the state capital.

Addressing the staff, Rt. Hon. Guwor commended their dedication and unity under the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), noting that their commitment had fostered a peaceful and productive working environment. He pledged that their happiness and a conducive atmosphere would remain priorities for his administration, emphasizing that such conditions were crucial for improved productivity.

The Speaker disclosed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had promised to upgrade physical infrastructure at the Assembly complex, including the clinic, and ensure the implementation of the Consolidated Salary Structure (CONLESS) for PASAN members in 2025. Additionally, he assured staff that training and retraining initiatives would be sustained to enhance capacity and performance within the legislature.

Encouraging the workforce to look beyond past challenges and embrace the prospects of a more productive 2025, the Speaker wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. He also urged staff to embody the spirit of the season by showing love and kindness to others.

In a separate interaction with journalists, Rt. Hon. Guwor lauded members of the 8th Assembly for their dedication to legislative duties. He particularly highlighted their swift passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, which he described as a demonstration of their commitment to Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.

Reflecting on 2024, the Speaker noted that the Assembly had passed several significant bills and motions aimed at promoting peace, good governance, and sustainable development in the state.

He also commended the press for their objective coverage of Assembly activities, including plenary sessions, committee sittings, and oversight functions. “Without your timely and unbiased reportage, the efforts of the legislature would remain largely unknown,” he remarked, calling for continued collaboration with the media as partners in progress.

The Clerk of the House, Otto Aghoghophia, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Assembly staff, praising the Speaker’s leadership style. He assured the Speaker of unwavering support from the workforce and reflected on the progress achieved since Rt. Hon. Guwor assumed office. Aghoghophia expressed optimism for even greater strides in the legislature in the coming years.

The event was attended by members of the Delta State Assembly Service Commission, led by Chairman Mr. Sunday Ebirieri, as well as Deputy Clerks and management staff of the Assembly.

The end-of-year celebrations featured free medical care, a health talk, aerobics, and games for staff, underscoring the Assembly’s commitment to promoting staff well-being.
