DELTA APPEAL COURT JUDGEMENT: PDP Delta State Campaign Council spokesperson Dismisses Manipulated Audio as Desperate Opposition Propaganda
ASABA/Nigeria: In response to recent social media reports surrounding an allegedly manipulated audio discussing court cases, Dr. (Barr.) Wilfred Latimore Oghenesivbe, spokesperson for the Delta State Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, has emphasized the integrity of the party’s victory at the Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
Oghenesivbe clarified that the audio lacked any mention of the PDP or its candidate, Governor Rt Hon Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, in any incriminating conversation.
According to Oghenesivbe, the audio in question did not exhibit the criminal elements necessary for prosecution, lacking identifiable individuals and concrete evidence of wrongdoing. He stressed that allegations of bribery and corruption require substantial proof, such as marked currency, bank records, or surveillance footage, none of which were presented in the manipulated audio.
Highlighting the absence of specific names or concrete details regarding bribery recipients or fund sources in the audio, Oghenesivbe asserted that pursuing an investigation solely based on such misleading content would be futile. He criticized the opposition, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), for circulating this manipulated audio to undermine the judiciary and discredit the PDP.
Oghenesivbe reaffirmed the legitimacy of Governor Oborevwori’s victory in 21 out of 25 local government areas, emphasizing the substantial margin of victory. He urged the public to dismiss the manipulated audio as baseless propaganda and expressed confidence in the judiciary’s unbiased handling of ongoing legal matters.
Asserting that the audio holds no weight in proving any allegations beyond reasonable doubt, Oghenesivbe concluded by confidently predicting the inevitable triumph of the PDP and Governor Oborevwori at the Supreme Court, regardless of opposition attempts at misinformation and propaganda.
