Delta Announces January 6 Resumption for Schools

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has directed all private and public primary and secondary schools across the state to resume for the second term academic activities on Monday, January 6, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, teachers were urged to redouble their efforts in improving the quality of education in the state. He emphasized the need for dedication and commitment to achieving higher standards.

The statement also announced that academic activities would commence immediately on the resumption day, following a collective cleaning of classrooms by teachers and students. Parents and guardians were encouraged to ensure their children and wards are fully prepared for the new term.

To ensure strict compliance, the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, and her counterpart for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsly Ashibuogwu, will lead monitoring teams to assess the level of compliance with the resumption directive across schools.

The government warned that absenteeism among teachers and school heads without valid reasons or prior approval from their superiors would not be tolerated, adding that disciplinary actions would be taken against defaulters.

The statement concluded by congratulating teachers, learners, and students for witnessing the beginning of a new year, 2025, while expressing optimism for a successful academic term.
