DELTA 2023: Gbagi Says He Will Industrialise Delta State
ASABA/Nigeria: A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and frontline Governorship aspirant in Delta State, Chief (Barr) Kenneth Gbagi, has pledged to consolidate Senator Okowa’s desire to tackle unemployment in the state through industrialisation if elected as the Governor of the state in 2023.
He stated this in Asaba while briefing journalists when he visited the temporary Press centre.
Chief (Barr) Gbagi, who noted that more needed to be done in the area of creating opportunities for Delta youths to be self reliant, said that he would redefine governance in the state.
The former Minister of Education, affirmed that he had the one hundred percent credibility to turn around the fortune of the state, commended Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for his initiative to transform the state , especially the capital territory.
Chief (Barr) Gbagi, who used the opportunity to debunk certain allegations against him, emphasised that it was intended to damage his integrity unnecessarily as a result of his intimidating track record in service delivery and more particularly as a result of his political ambition.
He reiterated that as Minister for State for Education, he singlehandedly ensured the establishment of 13 Federal Universities across the nation, saying that the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) In Delta State was achieved his brainchild under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Chief (Barr) Gbagi, who solicited the support of Deltans for his ambition come 2023 ,called on any Governorship aspirant of the party to engage on issue based politics rather than approaching the ambition by indulging in denting opponent’s image.
While saying that he would continue to speak against corruption and injustice in the society, the frontline governorship aspirant, distanced himself from anyone that had looting tendencies.
He advised the media to play their role of being the watch dog of the society, stressing that the media should contribute their quotas towards sanitasing the society.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Delta Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Mike Ikeogwu, who lauded Chief (Barr) Kenneth Gbagi for articulating his vision for Delta project with journalists ahead of 2023, adding that NUJ was proud of his achievements as former minister of Education, just as he affirmed that NUJ in the state would throw its weight behind any aspirant that had the interest of Deltans at heart.
