Command Day School Sports Meet: Senator Nwoko Calls for Talent Development

ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North and Chancellor of the Sports University of Nigeria, has lauded the role of sports in youth development at the 16th Annual Inter-House Sports Competition of Command Day Secondary School, Abuja. The event, held on February 18 at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment Sports Complex, brought together students, teachers, and military personnel in a vibrant display of athleticism and teamwork.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Nwoko, the senator commended the organizers for their dedication to promoting sports as an integral part of education. He highlighted the importance of physical activities in instilling discipline, resilience, and teamwork among students.

“I am honored to be here today as the Special Guest of Honour. The enthusiasm and energy in the atmosphere are truly remarkable. Sports play a vital role in physical and mental well-being while also teaching important life values. Regardless of who wins or loses, the most important lesson is sportsmanship, hard work, and team spirit. You are all champions,” he stated.

Senator Nwoko also praised the teachers and military officers for their commitment to providing a holistic education that blends academics with sports. Dr. Michael Nwoko further underscored the senator’s vision for sports development in Nigeria, revealing that the Sports University of Nigeria is open to collaborating with the school to identify and nurture young sporting talents.
