Collaborative Prayers Panacea to Combat Insecurity, Otuaro

OLEH/Nigeria: The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, has maintained that the only panacea for Nigeria to overcome security challenges is when the people redouble their effort in fervent prayers.

The deputy governor who addressed participants at the 7th edition of the 2019 synod of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, held in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area,  admonished Christians to pray fervently to God to halt Nigeria’s security challenges so that the Nation can advance speedily and be devoid of rancour and crisis.

Deacon Otuaro at the event, explained, saying, “The indices on security development, gross domestic product and planning are not favourable, but with redouble prayers, God positively rewrite the security and developmental narrative of the country.”

He appreciated the support the church has been giving to the Delta State government, while urging the same church not to relent in being the change agent the people needed.

While welcoming Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria to the state, the deputy governor said, “The visit of the general to Delta State is an honour accorded the body of Christ, more importantly since the gathering is for the body of Christ.”

He appreciated the former president for his exhaustive lectures, which he titled “Mobilising Nigeria, Human And Natural Resources for National Development and Stability,” remarking that the lecture was well researched for such an occasion.

The deputy governor added that the Bible made us to know, “That the church is the hope and pillar of truth and the church indeed has power. And what is Power? It is that dynamic ability to effect changes.”

He assured that all that what Chief Obasanjo alluded to in his lectures would be attended to by the body of Christ and that as government; the state would deepen collaborations and partnership with the body of Christ.

Deacon Otuaro applauded the Oleh Diocese of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communionfor putting the programme together.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo appreciate the church for the honour in chosen him to give a keynote address at the event, while commending the Bishop of Oleh Diocese,  Rt. Rev, Dr John Aruakpor and the clergy and the entire laity of the diocese for sustaining for the annual synods.

He said further, “It is gladdening to note that the Church of Nigeria has continued to provide not only for the spiritual growth of the people but also for the overall physical wellbeing and welfare of Nigerians generally.”

He added that the church had continued to play a very critical role in the overall growth and development of the country, explaining that it had continued, in the face of daunting challenges, to mould opinions, make critical interventions and influence policies and general directions of the various tiers of governments in Nigeria.

The programme was attended by people from all works of life, including government officials from Delta State and other neighbouring states.
