Coalition Condemns Misrepresentation of Senator Omo-Agege’s Christmas Message
ASABA/Nigeria: The New Delta Coalition has condemned what it described as a deliberate misrepresentation of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s Christmas message by an Aide to the Delta State Governor.
In a statement issued on January 1, 2025, the group accused the of using an alias, Alaowei Okoronwanta, to distort the Senator’s message, labeling the act as misinformation aimed at misleading the public.
According to the Coalition, Senator Omo-Agege’s Christmas message was a call for unity, hope, and support for the federal government’s economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The former Deputy Senate President acknowledged Nigeria’s challenges but emphasized the importance of reforms for sustainable growth and prosperity.
The Coalition expressed dismay over what it described as an “evil or demonic effort” by the Delta State government to misattribute views critical of the President’s policies to Senator Omo-Agege. They alleged that the misrepresentation reflected the true thoughts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration regarding federal policies.
“This inconsistency raises serious questions about the Delta State government’s sincerity and character,” the statement read. “Governor Oborevwori’s public support for President Tinubu’s administration is undermined by the actions of his aides, which contradict his declarations.”
The Coalition further accused the Delta State government of engaging in propaganda to undermine the federal government, describing the actions as a “classic case of the voice of Jacob and the hand of Esau.” They called for the promotion of truthful and accurate information, urging the government to desist from spreading misinformation.
The New Delta Coalition concluded by urging the public to disregard the fabricated narrative and focus on Senator Omo-Agege’s original message. They also called on the Aide and the Delta State government to uphold ethical standards and maintain the integrity expected of public officials.
The statement was signed by Godwin Anaughe on behalf of the New Delta Coalition.
