Climate Action Africa Calls for Unified Approach to Nigeria’s Climate Challenges
LAGOS/Nigeria: In a bid to address Nigeria’s pressing climate challenges, Climate Action Africa (CAA), a prominent advocate for climate resilience and sustainable development, has urged for a more impactful and inclusive strategy. This call to action was the focal point of a climate change media briefing held today in Lagos.
With Nigeria increasingly vulnerable to rising temperatures, erratic weather patterns, and environmental degradation, CAA emphasizes the necessity for a cohesive approach involving all stakeholder groups. Grace Oluchi Mbah, Co-Founder and Executive Director at Climate Action Africa, stressed the significance of Nigeria’s unique position and abundant resources in necessitating a comprehensive strategy that engages every sector.
“Nigeria’s unique position and vast resources necessitate a comprehensive strategy that leverages the expertise and commitment of every sector,” said Mbah.
The importance of fostering collaboration across various domains including policy development, innovation, community mobilization, and financing was underscored during the briefing. These themes are central to the forthcoming Climate Action Africa Forum 2024 (CAAF24).
Scheduled for June 19-20 in Lagos, CAAF24 serves as a testament to CAA’s dedication to fostering collaboration. The forum aims to convene key stakeholders from across Africa to discuss innovative solutions and devise concrete action plans for addressing climate change.
An innovative addition to the forum is the introduction of the Deal Room, a dynamic marketplace connecting Africa’s innovators with forward-thinking investors to expedite impactful deals for climate action and sustainable development.
Following the conference, CAA will collaborate with the Founder Institute, the world’s largest startup accelerator based in Silicon Valley, to provide ongoing support to African innovators through a post-accelerator program.
“CAAF24 provides a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, collaborative problem-solving, and forging strategic partnerships,” remarked Mbah.
Climate Action Africa urges all stakeholders to adopt a proactive stance in tackling the climate crisis. Through collective efforts, innovation, and a shared commitment to sustainability, Nigeria can mitigate the impact of climate change and pave the way for a prosperous and resilient future.
