Children Urged to Surpass Role Models and Embrace Leadership
ASABA/Nigeria: Mr. Augustine Oghoro, the Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has encouraged children to take responsibility for their lives and strive to exceed the achievements of their role models.
The Permanent Secretary made this statement during a meeting with delegates from the 7th Didactic Young Stars Summit, in his office in Asaba. He emphasized the importance of nurturing leadership skills in children from an early age.
The Delta State Government has implemented an academic calendar that allows children to rest for two to three weeks after twelve to thirteen weeks of study, creating a balanced and healthy learning environment. Additionally, the government has made it mandatory for schools to organize sporting activities between terms to engage the children and promote their overall development.
Mr. Oghoro stressed the significance of children participating in school clubs, as it helps them understand their surroundings and society better. He expressed his belief that exposing children to leadership skills early on will contribute to a future generation of capable leaders, reducing leadership problems in Nigeria.
The 7th Didactic Young Stars Summit, led by Mr. Eichie Stephen Oseiwe, focuses on empowering children with essential leadership skills and promoting social responsibility and self-confidence. The summit’s theme, “Impact of Extra Curricular Activities in the Development of the Child,” received commendation from Mr. Oghoro, who pledged the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with the summit.
Mr. Eichie shared that the group has been actively addressing societal issues and recently conducted a program on the effects of child molestation. As young leaders of tomorrow, they aim to equip children with the necessary skills to make a positive impact on society.
