CAN Celebrates First Easter Cantata In Styles

EFFURUN/Nigeria: There was an overflow and beehives of activities ranging from choir ministration, dancing, intercessory prayers and Bible reading at the venue of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), first edition of Easter CANTATA celebration with the theme, “Echoes of Easter.”
The ceremony which held at the Urhobo College Field, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta, with the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as special guest of honour, was organized to celebrate the rise of Jesus Christ from the grave and the fall of Satan.
The first bible reading was taken by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa from Psalm 150:1-6, which expressed the need for every living soul to praise God in the sanctuary and in the firmament of His power for His mighty works.
The Catholic Mass Choir stole the day with a powerful rendition, just as the second bible reading from the gospel of John 20:1-18, was taken by the Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Sir Austin Oghoro.
The PFN and the TEKAN/ECWA Mass Choir also took their turn to perform while Evangelist Solo King rendered the music to entertain the congregants.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, in his remarks, commended the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) for the initiative to bring Christians to together to celebrate the Easter in a unique way.
The governor, who was represented by the Senior Political Adviser, Rt Hon Funkekeme Solomon, urged Christians to see the death of Jesus as a mark of victory over evil, just as he tasked them to remain steadfast in their service to God.
The Guest Preacher, Rt Revd Christian Ide, Bishop, Diocese of Warri, Anglican Communion, speaking on the theme of the programme, “Echoes of Easter,” urged Christian to take into cognizance the message that Easter celebration had brought to mankind.
He said Jesus Christ arose from the grave to upturn the things that Satan had done against humanity, just as he added that the Easter celebration marked a turning point and freedom from bondage.
