APC Leader Warns Wike, Commends Governor Diri

PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: In a strong rebuke aimed at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), cautioned against political interference in Bayelsa State. Eze emphasized that Bayelsans uphold principles of loyalty and unity, advising Wike to avoid actions that could destabilize Governor Douye Diri’s administration.

In a statement released from Port-Harcourt, Eze commended Governor Diri for swiftly addressing alleged plans by Wike to introduce political violence and discord into Bayelsa. He condemned what he described as Wike’s intention to replicate recent controversial events in Rivers State, alleging a disregard for democratic norms and public sentiment.

Eze criticized Wike’s alleged self-interest and accused him of ignoring broader national concerns amidst growing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s actions in Rivers State. He underscored the importance of maintaining peace in Bayelsa, highlighting Governor Diri’s proactive measures to engage local stakeholders and security officials.

“Governor Diri has demonstrated unwavering leadership by cautioning against potential unrest linked to planned rallies,” Eze stated. He urged Wike to reconsider any actions that could escalate tensions within the Bayelsa PDP, warning of grave consequences should such provocations persist.

Furthermore, Eze appealed for national unity amidst security challenges in other states, urging a focus on constructive dialogue rather than divisive political maneuvers. He called on Governor Diri to remain steadfast in the face of external pressures, predicting that Wike’s strategies would fail to gain traction among the peaceful Ijaw community.
