APC Disowns Delta State “Leadership Council,” Says NWC Never Approved Inauguration

ABUJA/Nigeria: The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from the purported inauguration of a “Leadership Council” in its Delta State chapter, stating that no such approval was granted by the party’s national leadership.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party clarified that the reported inauguration of the council was not sanctioned by the NWC.

“The NWC did not grant approval for the inauguration or operation of the ‘Leadership Council’ in the Delta State Chapter of our Party, as claimed by reports,” the statement read.

Morka further emphasized that the so-called “Leadership Council” has no constitutional backing, as it is neither a statutory organ, structure, nor committee recognized under the APC’s constitution.

“The Party’s Constitution clearly spells out its statutory organs, structures, and committees, along with their respective powers and functions. The ‘Leadership Council’ is not one of such constitutional organs, ad hoc structures, or committees of the Party,” he added.

The clarification comes amid concerns over the authenticity of the council and its implications for party unity in Delta State.
